Room Reveal: Ben’s Toddler Room

Designed by Beth from The Navy Edit, this bedroom belongs to a lucky little boy named Ben. The brief was to create a warm and playful environment where Ben can learn, play and read. Inspired by a sense of adventure and playfulness this design ticks all the boxes.

I’m excited to share this charming bedroom with you today, I hope you like it as much as I do!

TELL US ABOUT THE OWNER OF THIS ROOM:

‘This room belongs to an energetic little boy, Ben who is 2 years old. His parents wanted the room to spark a sense of adventure. One of the key points of the brief was that the design would be able to grow with Ben.’

TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS:

‘The Navy Edit Interior Design Studio is located in Sydney’s lower north shore. We strive to not only make spaces beautiful but also functional – which is my approach to design.’

WHAT WAS THE BRIEF FOR THIS ROOM?

The brief had two essential parts, to create:
1. A room that would spark a sense of adventure
2. A space that could adapt as Ben gets older

WHAT WAS YOUR INSPIRATION?

‘A photograph of Yosemite National Park was the starting point for the design of the room. The sense of adventure was the constant inspiration behind all design selections.’

HOW DID YOU SELECT YOUR COLOUR PALETTE?

‘The selection of the wall decals from Urban Walls and the armchair from West Elm set the colour palette for the room. We wanted it to feel warm and welcoming.’

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE FEATURE IN THE ROOM AND WHY?

‘The UbaBub Booksee Bookshelves – not only do they look great, but Ben loves that he can quickly get his favourite books down to read with his parents.’

WHAT WAS THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE?

‘Choosing which products not to put in the room! It was a lovely space to design.’

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE THING ABOUT THIS SPACE?

‘The world map playmat from Gathre anchors the room, surrounded by all the comfy cushions. It is the spot where Ben plays and reads all the time. We always aim to make a room look fantastic but also achieve great functionality all our designs. Hearing this feedback from our clients is so rewarding.’
