Ahoy there! Today we chat with mum of two, Nicola Mcclintock from Moments With Us. Nicola has designed a nautical wonderland for her son, Talan. With a passion for styling and photography, Nicola has a natural talent for creating rooms bursting with personality and thoughtful detail. Let’s dive in…
NICOLA, TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOURSELF AND THE OWNER OF THIS ROOM?
“I am Mum to Talan and Blair, a stylist, content creator and photographer. I’ve really enjoyed following my passion for interiors and photography since having children. My kids love their ever-changing rooms and I find the process very therapeutic! My son Talan is 4yrs old, he’s cheeky, full of beans and always ready for an adventure. He has such a love for the ocean so I was excited to create a nautical wonderland for his bedroom.”
WHAT WAS THE BRIEF FOR THIS ROOM?
“The brief was developed between myself and Dreamy Spaces & Co. who create content for small businesses. I was so excited when I joined the team because Talan had told me he wanted an ocean themed room so of course I couldn’t wait to bring that to life. We carefully curated the space using products from our incredible portfolio of clients.”
WHAT WAS YOUR INSPIRATION?
“With Talan’s growing interest in the ocean, I knew this was a theme he would love. So the nautical wonderland idea came about. I wanted it to have a whimsical feel to it with lots of natural light.”
HOW DID YOU SELECT YOUR COLOUR PALETTE?
“I started out by looking at the beautiful colours of the ocean and selected mint and egg blue which worked perfectly”.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE FEATURE IN THE ROOM?
“The print from @phoenixandtheocean.co Your eye is immediately drawn to it and it brings the whole room together.”

WHAT WAS THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE?
“The room came together quite smoothly. I started out with a blank space and we put the wallpaper up first on the feature wall. Then it was easy to add things piece by piece just as I had envisaged.”
WHAT IS YOUR OVERALL FAVOURITE THING ABOUT THIS SPACE?
“The soft whimsical feel it has and of course, the beautiful natural light.”
