First time parents Sarah and Matt knew one thing; that they wanted a gender neutral space for their baby, designed around a stunning artwork by Miranda Skoczek. Finding out the gender of your baby has got to be up there with one of life’s great surprises! Whilst some of us prefer to know straight up, others decide to wait.
With the help of Sweet Dream Interiors, this calm and inviting bedroom is now home to one lucky little lady, Noa. It’s a calming and serene space that combines soothing neutrals with splashes of colour in a timeless design.
Today we chat with Bec and Kel of Sweet Dreams Interiors, who have combined their skill and mutual passion for interiors to start a business that creates nurturing, inviting and playful interiors for children of all ages.
WHAT WAS THE BRIEF FOR THIS ROOM?
“Sarah was pregnant when she contacted us, they didn’t know the gender of the baby and wanted us to create a gender neutral space. Sarah and her husband Matt both have a keen eye for detail and appreciation for design, however their busy jobs meant they needed some help sourcing furniture pieces and creating a design concept. They already had this incredible artwork and they wanted the space to be designed around that.”
WHAT WAS YOUR INSPIRATION?
“The artwork by Miranda Skoczek. It was the hero piece and we didn’t want anything to compete with it. So, we went with a neutral and muted colour palette to achieve this as well as adding texture and pops of colour.”
HOW DID YOU SELECT YOUR COLOUR PALETTE?
“We wanted to create a warm and soothing space – nothing themed or nursery-like. By incorporating timber, natural fabrics, soft linens, cottons, textures and pops of colour we have combined them with timeless furniture pieces that will grow with the baby.”
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE FEATURE IN THE ROOM?
“The cot by Oeuf – the simplicity and craftsmanship of it is just stunning.”
