Welcome to Sophie’s stunningly serene nursery. Created by her mum, Danuza Rogers of Danuza Rogers Interiors, this nursery shows us that you don’t need a large space to make a big impact. Working with just 7sqm, Danuza has created a perfectly peaceful and practical space for her daughter.
We were delighted to catch up with Danuza to get all the details on this nursery.
TELL US ABOUT THE OWNER OF THIS ROOM:
‘Sophie is a 10 months old little girl. She’s such an easy going and wonderful baby. Her smile and laugh are contagious. She’s happy to cruise on her own and love spending time with Lucky (Her d1og – a blue Staffy) and her favourite Lola Dolls. Although she is only 10 months old, she really enjoys “reading” books. I would say that books are her favourite “toys”.’
TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS:
‘Danuza Rogers Interiors is a Gold Coast based interior architecture studio, committed to functional and intelligent design. From residential to workspace projects, our main approach is our client’s satisfaction.
We are passionate for everything related with creativity, architecture, arts, interiors, furniture and design. Since becoming a first-time mom last year, my interest and passion for kids’ interiors have grown even more.
I’ve finished my bachelor’s degree in Architecture and Urban Planning in Brazil in 2005. After working alongside a few well recognised professionals in the industry, in 2008 I’ve decided to follow my own path and the company Form Architecture & Interiors was created. I was the Principal until the end of 2012 – the year I moved to Australia.’
WHAT WAS THE BRIEF FOR THIS ROOM?
‘A feminine and elegant space, making the most of delicate tones. Soft tones of yellow, pink and blue, to complement the neutral colour palette, having white and greys as the predominant tones.’
WHAT WAS YOUR INSPIRATION?
‘Clouds & Cotton Candy!’
HOW DID YOU SELECT YOUR COLOUR PALETTE?
‘For Sophie’s nursery I’ve tried to get away from the traditional “pink is for girls”. To be very honest I’m not a pink fan! So, the selection of the colour palette was based on my favourite colour: Grey. I do believe tones of grey and white bring serenity to the space and that’s what I was trying to achieve: a calm and relaxing environment.’
ON THE WALLS:
Paint: Dulux – Vivid White
Wall Paper: Mrs Mighetto – Oh Clouds
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE FEATURE IN THIS SERENE ROOM AND WHY?
‘I love every little detail of this room, from the shelves to the handmade dolls. It has so much love involved in every single corner that it’s quite hard to pick my favourite feature. Lol.
But, I need to say that I absolutely love the joinery. Changing Table, robe, shelves and wall panelling were all custom made to suit the space and its brief. The harlequin pattern used on the drawer and robe fronts and wall panelling is so soft and beautiful.’
WHAT WAS THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE?
‘The Room size (7.00sqm) was our big challenge, as I wanted to feel the space with so many gorgeous things. It was hard to give up in some furniture and accessories due to the lack of space.’
WHAT IS YOUR OVERALL FAVOURITE THING ABOUT THIS SPACE?
‘The soft, calm and relaxing feel of the room. And of course, the love you feel when you see little Sophie smiling and interacting with all the gorgeous products in her room.’
