I couldn’t help but smile when I saw the shots of this bedroom. The whimsical pink wallpaper forms a backdrop to crisp white, teamed with colourful pops of soft pink, mustard and green. It’s a bedroom that feels happy and joyful, just like the little girl who sleeps here!
Deborah Kessly of Nava Interiors is behind the design in this delightful space. Deborah started her business six years ago, specialising in kids rooms. Her formula always includes a healthy dose of colour, to bring the room alive and provide energy to the space. I’m sure you will agree, this is just what the Doctor ordered!
WHO IS THE LUCKY OWNER OF THIS BEDROOM?
“Eliora is 8 years old and loves nothing more than dancing, singing and creating art. Designing a space where she can do just that was essential, allowing enough space to dance freely and including a desk space for her endless artworks. She’s a sweet and kind young girl who loves colour but also wanted it to be a relaxing space to read and hang out with friends.”
WHAT WAS THE BRIEF FOR THIS ROOM?
“The concept for this room started when I first laid eyes on the beautiful pink wallpaper that designer Emily Henderson used in her daughter’s nursery. When I showed Eliora the wallpaper she loved it too, so the room evolved from there.”
HOW DID YOU SELECT YOUR COLOUR PALETTE?
“The colour palette was always going to be bright and colourful – but the starting point was the pink wallpaper by Sian Zeng. I added touches of mustard, peach and deep green to add some dimension to the palette while the mustard also adds a more mature feel to the space. Grey and white was also used as a base for the larger pieces in the room to allow for an easy change up as she grows.”
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE FEATURE IN THE ROOM?
“It has to be the beautiful pink tree wallpaper! It has such an impact in the room yet is also so soft and subtle.”
WHAT WAS THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE?
“The biggest challenge was finding the perfect pieces for the room which took 1 year to complete! Agreeing on all the pieces with my daughter while also having budget limitations held it up, but it was well worth the wait.”
WHAT IS YOUR OVERALL FAVOURITE THING ABOUT THIS SPACE?
“The pops of colour and texture in the room is impactful, yet balanced. All the pieces connect through complimenting tones and different textures which creates depth and interest.”
