Real Room – Andrew’s Adventure

Adventure is the inspiration behind the theme for a young boy’s bedroom. Incorporating a standout terrazzo wallpaper with Andrew’s favourite colours creates a winning combination and brings together his love for cars, travel and adventure.

With a B.A in Interior Design, mother of two Georgina is an interior designer, content creator and blogger with a love for sharing styling tips, advice and all things interiors. Along with running her busy blog and social media account, Georgina provides an interior design service and runs a beautiful online store Wool and Willow

Tell us about the brief for this room

“Fun, bright and airy – incorporating colours that Andrew loves!”

What was your inspiration?

“It started with the terrazzo wallpaper from Minnie and Me Interiors – I sourced this terrazzo design myself. After scrolling the internet for hours, this just popped! Secondly, I have always loved terrazzo as a flooring option, and incorporating that and turning it into a feature wall was my starting point and inspiration.

Most of the bedroom colours are drawn from the wallpaper. Then based on Andrew’s interests, I gathered the maps and explorer items. Andrew also loves cars and we found some perfect retro cars that tie in with the DIY bedhead, which has a vintage vibe, but given a modern touch by painting it in Dulux Edvard.”

How did you select your colour palette?

“Andrew’s wallpaper is the focal point and most of the colours are drawn from it. We kept the main furniture neutral and the room was painted white to keep the space bright and fresh. This has the added benefit of making it easy to change his soft furnishings later on.”

On the walls:

Wallpaper – Minnie and Me Interiors

Wall paint colour – Dulux Lexicon Quarter

Bedhead paint colour – Dulux Edvard

What is your favourite feature in the room?

“The terrazzo wallpaper and the bedhead are my absolute favourite items in his room.”

What was the biggest challenge?

“The space itself was a huge challenge because it’s the smallest room in the house. It was supposed to be the office and has no wardrobe and it barely fits his King single Bed!”

What is your overall favourite part of the room?

“Can I say everything? I absolutely love how the whole room flows nicely together and all the pieces work so well together. I love how it has a mix of vintage, handmade and modern however it all works so well together and creates a fun space for any little boy.”
