How To Create a Boho Bedroom

Photography and Design by Maddison Black

Boho style has long been a favourite for its easy, breezy, relaxed style. Combining fresh white with neutral tones and timber which is easily mixed with other styles such as vintage or eclectic pieces. We have rounded up the top boho bedrooms as seen on the Minty blog, plus some tips on creating a boho style bedroom in your home.

How To Create a Boho Style Bedroom

  • Start with a base of white and add accent colours in pastels or earthy tones
  • Mix rattan furniture and natural timber pieces
  • Add texture using wallpaper and soft furnishings like velvet cushions, pattern-clash bedlinen and cozy floor rugs
  • Combine new furniture pieces with vintage or op-shop finds

Scottie’s Pastel Boho Bedroom

by Maddison Black

Inspired by: “Scrolling Pinterest and saving anything pretty, girly and boho”

Favourite feature: “The rattan bed is a standout piece, but we also love the DIY vanity which was made using a console table and the Melati Doll Wardrobe”

“Scottie loves everything pink and purple so we added those through soft furnishings and wall decals.”

Vintage Charm

by Elise Grossman

Inspired by: “The beautiful 100-year-old cottage we live in. I also follow many European pages on Instagram and I just adore how they mix vintage pieces in with new modern decor!”

Favourite feature: “Definitely the wallpaper! Every time I walk into their room it’s the first thing I’m drawn to because it brings such a lovely, soft feminine feel to the space.”

“I love that they have rooms that they can grow with. I can imagine the girls still loving this space as young teens with just a few minor changes.”

A Creative Shared Space

by Annemarie Willemen-Diephuis

Inspired by: “I wanted to create a warm, fun and inviting space for the boys to play in with good storage solutions and where they could get creative and of course to have a good night sleep.”

Favourite feature: “That it is not only a shared bedroom, but also a multifunctional space where they can play, read, rest and create.”

“I wanted a warm and inviting space, so natural materials like timber, warm tones like the rust bedding and rattan decor were a must for this design project.”

Vintage Scandinavian

by Sabina Staedler

Inspired by: We had our heart set on the ‘True Unicorns’ Majvillan wallpaper in Evening Blue. I love the colourway of the design and especially the blue/grey background, which gives it an old world romantic feel.”

Favourite Feature: “The bed is definitely the hero piece. I found it on Facebook Marketplace. I could not believe my luck (because I was born and raised in Sweden) and it feels extra special to have this bed in my daughter’s bedroom. The bed is from the late 1800’s so it’s a very special piece and tells a beautiful story just on its own.”

Vintage x Scandi

by Elise Grossman

Inspired by: “A stunning vintage bed found on Gumtree!”

Favourite feature: “A grown-up olive green linen quilt cover works effortlessly with the wooden furniture. The sophisticated yet playful colour palette chosen for Xander provides plenty of room to grow.”

“I wanted the room to be very inviting and cosy. I can see him being an older child and still loving it all just as much as he does now!”
