Bowie is a 7 year old adventurous boy, obsessed with animals – safari animals to be precise! Mum, Renée was inspired by his love of animals to create a very special room for her boy that would become a favourite place for him to play, imagine and rest. With a specific brief for a room featuring his favourite colour blue, Bowie is beyond thrilled with his safari style bedroom that evokes the adventure and thrill of a safari experience right at home.
What was the brief for this room?
“I was under strict instructions that the feature wall had to be blue, Bowie’s favourite colour. The room also had to feature safari animals. Otherwise, he trusted me to make the right choices!”
How did you select your colour palette?
“With a fairly specific brief, I went with the earthy tones of a wild safari. Once I nailed the perfect blue, (Dulux Blue Lobelia in Gloss) I worked with rusty red wall decals from Blond + Noir and incorporated rattan accents and timber furniture. I use colour and patterns with different bed linen that reflect the wild safari theme.”
What is your favourite feature in the room and why?
“I actually love the beds. They are a beautiful warm timber from Adairs and I really feel these work perfectly. The bed linen can be changed without affecting the overall look.”
What was the biggest challenge?
“Making the room work with 2 beds whilst ensuring Bowie had space to play read and be creative without the room being overtaken by furniture.”
