How and why you should be using texture in interior design

Often, taking on the task of decorating or designing a space can be a huge and scary task. But, it doesn’t have to be! We are going to give you the best tips on how to incorporate luxe textures into your space.

So, what exactly is texture? ‘Texture’ is usually referring to the way something feels. It can also be about the way the surface looks. Sometimes, we find products that aren’t necessarily textured on the surface but perhaps the pattern or style gives it a textured look.

One of the biggest reasons to add texture to your room design is to help create exciting contrast. By adding in products or finishes that are textured, you are able to create a variety of looks and feels for your space.

PETITE + PEONI
Crescent Upholstered Bed
FROM $1,750.00

The Crescent Bed was designed in collaboration with one of our favourite children’s interior designers – Belinda Kurtz from Petite Interior Co.

We love how the Crescent Bed has a clean rounded edge finish with a linen texture fabric. This bead head is one that looks as comfortable as it is stylish.

Late last year we shared to the blog an absolutely stunning real room tour: Chilling with Tanner. Tanner’s mumma Rhilee has done an amazing job designing and styling the space.

We simply adore the way she has incorporated the textured sage blanket at the end of the bed. It’s the perfect amount of shabby boho and really makes you feel at home in the space.

Desert Rug- Black
$660.00

We are such HUGE fans of everything Langdon LTD produces. This is no exception! The Desert Rug is shaggy and the epitome of comfort. Handwoven by artisans in India, this textured rug with pops of gold and black is sure to be the center of attention in any space.

Adding a rug that is abundant with texture (like this one!) is a great way to create contrast in your room design.

In addition, when purchasing from Langdon LTD not only are you supporting the communities that these goods are created in, you are also helping to preserve generations of skill and craft.

The Innika Bed by Incy Interiors has got the be one of the most luxurious beds we could ever dream of. Made from a forest green velvet fabric, this bed oozes sophistication and elegance.

We love how stylist Madeline McFarlane has paired the rich green with a muted pastel pink palette. She has really allowed the feature of the velvet texture to shine in this dreamy space.

One of our top tips is to remember not to overuse textures, but rather use them to compliment the rest of the pieces in the room or space.
