Specialising in personalised heirloom keepsake dolls and “best friend” companion dolls, each one designed and individually handcrafted in Brisbane, Australia.

Lou created her first doll in 2012 as a Mother’s Day gift for her beloved Nana. Unfortunately, this doll was never to be gifted as her Nana suddenly passed away mere days before seeing her special doll. During the following 18 months of grieving, hand stitching and embroidering helped Lou navigate the huge loss in her life.

Feeling closer to her whilst creating, Lou often felt her presence; creating gave her the pause she needed. Living life with renewed purpose, Lou resigned from her finance career and started making handmade dolls, even though she had little idea how to use a sewing machine. It made no sense, but it felt right.

Over time, Lou found her niche and built strong relationships with her customers. With the sharing of stories, experiences & most importantly their WHY, Lou was able to create meaningful and timelessly beautiful sentimental keepsake dolls. Upper Dhali® is Australia’s home of the new generation of keepsake dolls. Dedicated to providing exceptional standards, genuine heartfelt service and quality craftsmanship for doll lovers of all ages.
