Today we are sharing a beautiful little nursery, featuring a bold floral mural. It’s safe to say, this trend is here to stay and we are seeing some gorgeous examples here at Minty.
Julie Christine is the busy Mum, stylist and photographer that also designed this room for her little girl Eliza. Julie collaborated with Urban Walls and selected this stunning mural that is the focal point of the room.
WHO IS THE OWNER OF THIS ROOM?
“Our baby girl Eliza, who is just 4 months old! Still figuring her out!”
TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS?
“I am a stay-at-home Mum, and I run my own photography business, Julie Christine Photography. I am into my 6th year now and absolutely love photographing people’s love stories, their families and favourite people, as well as working with some incredible brands such as Urban Walls.”
WHAT WAS THE BRIEF FOR THIS ROOM?
“This room was created for our newest little addition, our one and only daughter, Eliza. When I was 25 weeks pregnant, we found out we were having a baby girl! Urban Walls collaborated with us, and this gorgeous bold floral mural was the perfect fit. I had so many ideas and I am really happy with how they all came together.”
WHAT WAS YOUR INSPIRATION?
“I had come across a nursery on Instagram that was the base line of my inspiration. From there I went with my own colours and various pieces I found at different stores. Often I will find something I instantly love, which inspires me to incorporate it into the room. We re-used the crib from all our babies, repainted a dresser I had from our first child and the nursing chair was originally in the living room. It all came together perfectly!”
HOW DID YOU SELECT YOUR COLOUR PALETTE?
“I had originally wanted to go with a darker paint colour, inspired by this image I had seen on Instagram. However when I got to the paint store I was much more drawn to the light peach palette with the mustard and earthy tones as accents. The West of Eden mural we installed was perfect for the colour palette I had already selected, so I kind of lucked out with that part of the project.”
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE FEATURE IN THE ROOM?
“The West of Eden Mural for sure! It is a huge statement piece and I am very drawn to bold features. The colours are totally my style and it honestly is my favourite room in the home.”
WHAT WAS THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE?
“Deciding which wall to put the mural on was challenging! It will be there for a very long time so it had to be right. But I am really happy with the result.”
WHAT IS YOUR OVERALL FAVOURITE THING ABOUT THIS SPACE?
“I love all the little details on the shelves, some are quite sentimental to me. The mural is definitely my favourite feature overall though!”
