Pink Vibes Only

Self-confessed members of team pink, Kristy Young of Minnie and Me Interiors and her little girl Minnie are taking us through yet another swoon-worthy bedroom makeover.

Over the years, this has been the perfect space to allow Kristy’s design style to evolve. The most recent makeover features the most heavenly hand drawn daisy wallpaper, exclusive to Minnie and Me.

TELL US ABOUT THE OWNER OF THIS ROOM

“5 rooms in 4 years! Our Minnie is one lucky little girl. Her room has been the perfect studio for me. I love showing our followers how to style our wallpaper designs and to give them inspiration to create their very own magic. This room has seen me grow as decorator and stylist, just as it’s grown with Minnie. It’s important to show our customers what’s possible with our wallpaper in real rooms – we’re not just about retail. For that reason, beautiful design is my number one priority. This might be the last time I change up this space, as our family we will be embarking on a new chapter in the near future. More details about this coming soon on our socials.”

TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS

“Minnie and Me Interiors is truly a family owned and operated business. My Dad (Dean) and brother (Jon) make up the production side of the business. Jon is the genius that suggested we print our own wallpaper one day, so this business exists 100% because of him! My Mum (Maree) is the ‘Jack-of-all-trades’ and our biggest fan! My husband (Ben) is our accountant extraordinaire, and does all things technological (not my forte). Chelsea gives us new ideas and fresh perspectives. The kids are our inspiration. I guess that leaves me with the rest… design, customer service, marketing, networking and innovating.”

WHAT WAS THE BRIEF FOR THIS ROOM?

“I am moving away slightly from my usual vintage style and I had to bring back the pink vibes! It’s my thing. This time I’ve added a hint of boho, and a sprinkle of peachy and earthy tones to balance all the pink. Because our wallpaper is so versatile, it can be the backdrop to any style that tickles your fancy. Buying a particular wallpaper doesn’t mean you have to be wedded to one style. You can easily change up your space with on-trend linen and homewares.”

WHAT WAS YOUR INSPIRATION?

“The first inspo pic that caught my eye, was the Three Birds HQ renovation. I’m obsessed with anything the girls do #fangirl. I was drawn to the combination of pinks, golds and rattan as it felt luxe but also relaxed. Their design really demonstrates how to use rattan sparingly. Also, I really love the pink wainscoting – wainscoting plus wallpaper is one of my fave looks ever. Unfortunately I couldn’t make it work in Minnie’s room because of the height of the bed head. However, that said it did lead me to create a peel and stick wainscoting for those unable to have the real deal in their home.”

HOW DID YOU SELECT YOUR COLOUR PALETTE?

“I used a blue wallpaper for her last room reveal and whilst it was stunning, we’re definitely team pink in our house. Those big white daisies on a perfect blush background had me at hello!”

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE FEATURE IN THE ROOM?

“I couldn’t possibly choose a favourite piece! Honestly, it’s the combination of every piece that creates the magic – just like in life… we’re better together.”

WHAT WAS THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE?

“We didn’t really have any big challenges, but the decision I pondered over the longest was the colour of the doona cover! Initially, I planned to use a rust colour that is very on-trend, but then I thought white might work. In the end, I settled for a natural cotton to allow the feature cushions and beautiful sheet set to shine. I’m really happy with my choice.”
