A rainbow of soft pastels is the inspiration behind this sweet little room for a one year old girl. Another dreamy space created by the clever team at House of Hawkes. Given free rein to create a cozy, age-appropriate bedroom, their client engaged Kathryn Hawkes to create something special for their daughter.
With a colour palette layered with soft tones of pale pink, salmon, bluey-grey and dusty rose, the stand-out feature is the vintage wardrobe which is both functional and a stunning element. “Painted in a soft pink (Khajal by Jotun) it brings character to the design without being overpowering” adds designer, Kathryn Hawkes. Given the large footprint of the bedroom, Kathryn wanted to create a sense of warmth and coziness. “We achieved this by bringing in a rug from West Elm that had a distressed, vintage aesthetic” Kathryn explains.
The addition of a watercolour rainbow print above the cot brings all these calming hues together. A striking brass pendant from West Elm is another element that brings character to the room, tying in with the handmade brass mobile from Juno + Ace adorning the change station in one corner. The sweetest reading bench by No Fred sits beneath the window, where stories are shared and playtime is enjoyed.
Also, a gorgeous bamboo and rattan daybed will double as a big-girl bed when the time comes! Overall, this design is timeless and will easily adapt to the needs of a growing little lady. Bravo, House of Hawkes!
