The team at Live Loud Girl have just had an incredible time at Design Week in Milan – I know – lucky for some right?! The good news they have shared the best bits for your kids room for us here! Yay! So take a look for the hottest trends coming our way!
Milan Design Week
The Design Week in Milan was all about spring. Not only were the trees in bloom and was the sun heating up the cobbled streets of this beautiful city, the newest color pallet got us straight into the right mood too.
Trends for Your Kids Rooms
This year it is all about fresh and more saturated colors.
Bold blue’s are definitely a theme as we saw this color in many shapes, shades and structures. Jotun Paints introduced the beautiful tone Blue River that would look amazing in any kids bedroom or playroom. This color combines very well with some of our favorites from last year that have decided not to leave the lime light just yet. Blush is still very much on trend, as are dusty red and olive green. So whether you want to go for a girls, a boys or a gender neutral room, with a bold blue in combination with one of last years pallet you can’t go wrong.
We found lots of blues at the IKEA Festival where the new Stockholm 2017 collection was launched. Poufs, rattan chairs and comfy sofa’s with beautiful blue velvet cushioning are beautiful if you are on the look out for some affordable design. Both for children’s’ rooms and adult spaces, this collection gives a room a subtle boho touch.
The most surprising new comer for us was the color yellow. A bright sunny tone can definitely give a kids room that pop of color it often needs. A stunning combo of yellow with blue gives us a bit of an African tribal vibe, especially in combination with rattan like with the new lamp shade by Thonet. Another favorite item along these lines are the ceramic monkey heads by Basa Ceramics.
Are you brave enough to introduce yellow into your living room? Then be sure to take a look at the new SS/17 collection from Muuto. A sofa in this color will change any place into a space immediately. Combining it with dusty reds, blush and green goes surprisingly well.
They Kids Collection
The Kids collection at the Design Week seems to be growing every year with sustainable and natural materials being the trend. For desks, chairs and cots, birch wood is still very popular as combines with almost everything. We adore the combination of this with other materials and pops of color like Harto Design does. Although they are not a newcomer, their designs are worth mentioning as they are so clever and chic.
A perfect accessory to finish any kids room is a tile on the wall by Storytiles. Their new collection is full of funky fantasies and brings something unique for on your wall or for on a shelfie.
With our favorite pics from Milan we can easily create a stunning kids room (that we would love to occupy ourselves…) Fresh, bold and original is the latest trend from Milano and we love it!
