A sophisticated bedroom for a bright and bubbly Lucette is on the blog today. Thoughtfully designed and carefully curated by Francoise Baudet, in-house photographer at Minty Magazine. You might have seen her son Xavier’s room on the blog recently, featuring Francoise’s signature minimalist style. This stunning room exudes French femme cool and showcases some of the best in Australian design.
Tell us a little bit about your daughter Lucette and the brief for her room?
“Lucette is a sweet and bright four-year-old with a love for all things rainbows and unicorns. We recently moved into a new house in Brisbane after living in an apartment in Sydney, so for this reason it was important for them to have their own special space. We chose the Plyroom bed for Lucette, her first big bed which feels more grown up. My goal was to create a room that feels sophisticated and feminine without it being too soft.”
What was your inspiration when designing the space?
“I wanted something energetic, bright and bubbly for Lucette’s room to match her personality. I have family in New York and spent time there myself and as such felt drawn to the ‘I’m in a New York State of Mind’ print by Hotel Magique (see main photo). It created the foundation for the room.”
Your use of colour is beautiful, how did you settle on your selections?
“Lucette is very femme, so I knew I had to incorporate pink or I would be in big trouble! Wanting to stay modern, we selected a warm grey half-wall as our base so that we could add pinks to soft furnishings which we can change over time. I added terracotta, red and black to the palette to toughen the pink, match the hardware and avoid it being too pretty.”
What is your favourite feature in the room?
“I love the built-in desk. It was the perfect solution to those nooks. They feel so grown up at their own desk and it’s nice to be able display their favourite toys and books on the shelving above.”
