5 Top Tips For Planning Your Nursery

Planning a nursery doesn’t need to be a daunting task. Here are our top tips to take the overwhelm out, and bring the joy in!

Keep it Neutral

A neutral palette is a great place to start when planning a nursery! It creates a calm and relaxing zone in the home for the slow and glorious newborn days. Experiment with tones and texture to bring in the wow factor because colour can always be added down the track. Plus, it’s a perfect base to build on as your baby grows.

Consider the Materials

Natural materials with low-tox finishes are perfect for little hands and mouths. Look for an FSC certification on wooden products to be sure the wood has been harvested from forests that are responsibly managed, socially beneficial, environmentally conscious and economically viable. Also, the hygenic and hypoallergenic properties of silicone make it perfect for baby toys and teethers.

Think to the Future

Invest in furniture that can be repurposed as your baby grows. Look for storage solutions that will stand the test of time. For example, a locker is a great versatile option to house everything from baby clothes through to school supplies and sports equipment. A quality chest of drawers can make the perfect base for a secured change mat that is easily removed down the track. Wooden toys are a great place to start because they are not only fun to play with, but can be used for decoration – win-win!

Keep it Comfy

There is no doubt that you will be spending a lot of time on the floor with your baby. From tummy time to nappy changes, a good quality playmat will be your new best friend. An over-sized organic playmat can also double as a cot blanket when the time comes.
